On the Eve of the Lenten Fast we “shrive” ourselves of our sins by pulling out all of the “fat” from our larders for one last binge.  This is the origin of the Mardi Gras tradition.  So we gather on Fat Tuesday to celebrate.  The next day we consecrate our Lenten fast at the Ash Wednesday services at Noon and 7 PM.
