“Steadfast” Praise Band

We give our organist a break when the music group Steadfast leads our worship at the 10am service. 

Steadfast is a praise band of Episcopal Church lay people.  They are:

• Gordon Baxter; Bass, Vocals (St. Matthew, Auburn)
• Nadine Baxter (not pictured); Violin, Mandolin, Vocals (St. Matthew, Auburn)
• Jeff Brown (not pictured); Harmonica, Vocals (St. John, Kirkland)
• Dave Brumbaugh; Guitar, Vocals (St. James, Kent)
• Jim Miller; Keyboard, Vocals (St. John, Kirkland)
• Bill Stewart; Drums, Percussion, Vocals (Timberlake Christian Fellowship, Redmond)

The band formed out of the music team which led music at the men’s Cursillo retreat weekend.  The band gelled so well at that time, that a few of us felt the Spirit moving and calling us into a regular ministry around our music.  After prayerful consideration, we decided to give it a go.  Following the Cursillo,  Nadine was added to the band, and our first opportunity to lead worship came last June 2nd at Holy Cross, where we led the music for two services.  The search for a name ensued, and we settled on Steadfast.  Since then, we’ve played twice at St George in Maple Valley, and outdoors for a “mass in the grass” at St Christopher, Olympia.  Recently, Jeff Brown, who “sat in” with us during the Cursillo, has also been added as a regular member of the band.  We’re very happy to be back at Holy Cross.
