The Church of the Holy Cross, first and foremost, believes that God loves you! We believe in and follow Jesus Christ, and participate together in his life, death, and resurrection. We believe that the mission of the Church throughout time and space is to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ. 

Everyone! At Holy Cross, as a part of the Episcopal Church, we welcome everyone as a part of God’s creation. We take Christ's teachings in the sermon on the mount seriously – that those pushed to the margins of society have a place closer to God’s heart.

The vows in the Episcopal Church’s baptismal liturgy include promises to respect the dignity of every human being, and for us, that means committing ourselves to continually turning towards more just and loving ways of engaging, both, as individuals and as a community. 

In the Episcopal Church, we see marriage as a sacramental rite where two people commit themselves to each other in front of God and the church. Marriage is open to all regardless of gender – queer couples are welcomed and celebrated here! 

We are committed, as a community, to working together and having honest conversations about justice, equity, and inclusion. When we fail to get it right, we commit to repenting, seeking reconciliation, and striving again to follow Jesus’s command to love our neighbors as ourselves. 

We are a liturgical church – that means that our worship follows a set pattern every week, with variations depending on the season. We gather together to hear readings from Holy Scripture, followed by a sermon (about 15 minutes). After this, we respond with prayers, and pass the peace – greeting each other in the name of Christ. We then gather to celebrate and receive the Holy Eucharist – Christ’s Body, broken and shared with the gathered body of worshipers. The service typically runs for ~ 70 minutes.

After the service, we continue that fellowship with an optional time for conversation, coffee, and snacks together. We take our fellowship seriously, and would love for you to stick around so we can get to know you — but no pressure!

Feel free to come and participate as much or as little as you wish. Bulletins are provided to help everyone follow along, and you are welcome to stand, sit, or kneel as is comfortable to you. Sit wherever you want – there is no assigned seating. No need to dress up (unless you want to) – we are a casual church, and you are welcome just as you are!

Our sanctuary (where we worship) is wheelchair accessible, as is our parish hall. We have designated handicapped parking spaces, and there are no stairs or steps to get into the church. Our church office is accessible via a ramp.

Our restrooms all have accessible stalls, even though they are not labeled as such. Sinks in the bathrooms, however, are difficult to reach from a seated position. We have multi-stall men’s and women’s bathrooms, and a single stall gender neutral bathroom.

Our sanctuary is equipped with Hearing Loop, meaning that you can borrow an ear piece to amplify the audio from our system.

Children are welcome here and are a gift to the community! Kids are always welcome to be in the service, wiggles and noise are all a part of praising God together.

During the summer, everyone stays for the full service, giving us a chance to experience the fullness of worship together as a multigenerational community. During the school year, we have optional nursery care and children’s chapel during the first half of the service, giving parents a chance to focus on the readings and the sermon, with kids returning to their families for the Eucharist. Middle schoolers meet for formation during the beginning half of the service, while High schoolers meet at 9am for Youth Group then attend the full service.

All children and youth volunteers, as well as all Holy Cross employees, are background checked and follow Safe Church practices.
